One of our favorite activities was snorkeling. The best equipment to use is a mask, with the nose cover and a snorkel attached, and fins. This type of equipment are the best because when you want to go below the surface to check under rocks or explore, they will help you. The nose cover prevents water from rushing up your nose when you go down. The snorkel helps you breathe when you are near the surface. If you are faced with strong waves while snorkeling and they are pushing you towards jellyfish, you can swim faster with fins.
Scuba diving gave me even better observations of all the sea life. I went Scuba diving three times while I was at camp. There was another dive, but I sadly had a blister from the flipper, so I could not go. At the first lesson I had at the beach, my instructor got stung by a box jellyfish and had no reaction when he told us. I was very impressed! The oxygen tank felt like over 30 pounds above water but felt like 5 pounds below the surface. We had to wear a weight belt that would help us not rise-up, and a jacket which could inflate to go up and deflate to go down that would always have an air gauge and compass on it. Attached to the jacket was our oxygen tank and regulator that we used to breathe. Along with that we needed to have a mask, snorkel (for when we are on the surface) and our flippers.
