Upon completing 3 seasons of fortunately swimming with Gainesville high school, I can finally say with much perseverance I made progress around every corner. Whether it’s been through sprint events or distance, I am proud of my recent achievements as a varsity swimmer. The best events I have excelled in the most are my 50 yard Freestyle and 100 yard Breaststroke. To put in perspective, during my first year of high school swim, my time for the 50 yard Freestyle was 41.6 seconds and my 100 yard Breaststroke was 1:42. Fast-forward to today, my current personal best times for the 50 yard Freestyle are now 31.7 seconds and 1:23 for the 100 yard Breaststroke. Although these differences in times may not seem significant, these times are rather good when competing at meets as I pushed myself very hard to achieve those times. An excellent swimmer requires a lot of strength, focus and consistency. I keep reminding myself of the quote: “Your biggest competition is your own potential” by Jim Rohn. With this approach, I hope to greatly reduce these times in the future.
As the swim season begins to wind up, I want to thank my excellent coaches, Mr. Matthew Mast and Mr. Bradley Morrison.
